Polished tiles are still one of the most loved products in homes. They make a room look bright and clean. They also cost far less than real marble. But not every polished tile is the same, and not every floor suits a glossy finish. SakarMarbo is manufacturing ceramic, vitrified, and porcelain tiles in Morbi for more than two decades. As a polished tiles manufacturer in India, we get the same questions from dealers, builders, and importers again and again.
This guide answers them.
What are polished vitrified tiles?
Vitrified tiles are pressed and fired at high heat. This makes the body dense, with very low water absorption. Fully vitrified tiles come under Group BIa, which means water absorption of 0.5% or less.
Polished vitrified tiles go one step further. After firing, the surface is ground and buffed by machines until it shines. Many factories then add a nano coating. This is a liquid silica layer that fills the tiny pores on the surface. It makes the tile smoother and helps it resist stains.
Types of polished tiles we make
There are a few kinds of polished tiles, and each has its own place.
Soluble salt tiles are the most budget-friendly. The design is printed with soluble salts and then the tile is polished. They work well in bedrooms and living rooms where foot traffic is light.
Double charge vitrified tiles have two layers of pigment pressed together. The design layer is about 3 to 4 mm thick. So even after years of use, the pattern does not wear off easily. These suit busy homes, shops and offices. Our double loaded tiles get a nanomaterial coating for a smooth finish.
PGVT tiles, or polished glazed vitrified tiles, start as glazed tiles with a digitally printed design. They are then polished after firing to give a mirror-like shine. This is where you get marble-look and onyx-look designs at a much lower cost than natural stone.
Our soluble salt and double charge ranges are nano-polished tiles, so they have a smoother surface and better stain resistance. The most common size is 600 x 600 mm.
Where do polished floor tiles work best?
Polished floor tiles are made for dry indoor spaces. In a living room or bedroom, they bounce light around and make the space feel bigger. Hotel lobbies and showrooms use them for the same reason. If looking for glossy tiles for living room floors, most buyers go with PGVT or double charge.
Wet areas are a different story. Once water sits on a glossy surface, it gets slippery, and that is a real risk on a bathroom floor or near a wash basin. We usually suggest a matt or anti skid tiles there. Polished tiles can still go on bathroom walls, since nobody walks on them.
Outdoor use is also best avoided. Direct sun dulls the shine over a few years, so balconies and terraces do better with a matt finish or parking tiles.
Care and maintenance
A shiny floor shows everything. Dust, footprints, and dried water spots stand out much more on a shiny tile than on a matt one. That doesn’t mean polished tiles are hard to keep clean. It just means a little more regular attention.
A dry mop once a day is usually enough to stop dust from building up. For a wet clean, plain water with a neutral pH cleaner works best. Strong acid or alkaline cleaners slowly take the shine off, so it’s better to keep them away from the floor. Heavy furniture can leave scratch marks when it is dragged, and felt pads under the legs help with that.
Why buy from a vitrified tiles manufacturer in Morbi?
Morbi in Gujarat makes up to 90% of India’s ceramic tiles. The town has more than 1,800 tile units. For buyers, this means a wide choice, quick production, and competitive prices.
SakarMarbo’s factory is in Gujarat, with our office in Ahmedabad. We are ISO and CE certified. Along with polished tiles, we make wall tiles, parking tiles, GVT and digital glazed tiles in matt and glossy finishes. This lets a buyer source polished floor tiles and matching wall or outdoor tiles from one supplier.
We also supply dealers across India through our distributor network.
